Twilight

**Movie/Book Spoilers**

So my mom, sister, and I went to see the Twilight movie. We had high expectations for it, as most readers do when their treasures are turned into films. I read a lot, and I have read a lot of books before seeing them on the big screen. And I am disappointed for the most part with most of them. Howl’s Moving Castle isn’t even close to the book, but the movie was good too. I measure those two on their own. So I thought maybe I can measure Twilight like that too.

But I can’t.

I think it is because they used direct lines from the book it is hard to keep the two separated. The movie wasn’t that bad … just not what I wanted. I hated the fact that ‘Edward’ was unable to look at ‘Bella’ when he was talking to her. He talked to her shoes most of the time. I felt like I had to take a step back, the close camera shots made me feel like they were invading my bubble.

I didn’t like that ‘Bella’ wanted to go into the forest. If I remember right she didn’t want to go on the hike Edward had set up for her because she was clumsy. I was disappointed they cut out a couple scenes from the trailer. ‘Emmett’s’ line “She isn’t one of us” was missed. And I HATED what they changed the rescue scene to.

Book: "Distract me, please," he ordered.

"I'm sorry, what?"

He exhaled sharply.

"Just prattle about something unimportant until I calm down," he clarified, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger.

"Um." I wracked my brain for something trivial. "I'm going to run over Tyler Crowley tomorrow before school?"

He was still squeezing his eyes closed, but the corner of

his mouth twitched.

"Why?"

Movie: (Me paraphrasing because I don’t have the script)

"Distract me! Say something, anything, to keep me from going back there and ripping those guys' heads off!"

"You're not wearing your seatbelt."

"Me? You're not wearing your seatbelt."

That was just a little … cheesy. The whole movie wasn’t completely horrific (even if I wanted to cover the screen and save the audience from seeing the cheesiness of it). I loved the music. My favorite scene was the baseball game. I LOVE Muse and I am glad they put them in there for Stephanie’s sake. You could feel the awkwardness in the characters at the beginning, like you are there feeling it too. You can see when the characters become more comfortable with each other, except ‘Bella’ and ‘Edward’ … they still seemed awkward with each other.

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE Alice and Jasper. They are my favorite vampires, even over Bella and Edward. I loved them in the movie. When Jasper and Alice come into the kitchen and he hands her a flower. They stand close to each other. They don’t say a lot, but make it known that they are very much in love. So sweet! I wish there was a little more interaction with them in the end. It seemed this movie left out a lot of the vampires. Emmett had one line (I think). I loved how the audience ooed and ahhed when Carlisle entered the room. He was a very sexy vampire. Lol. Maybe if Bella didn’t blink so much, and Edward didn’t have asthma attacks the movie would have been a little better.

So the big question: Am I going to buy it?

Yes.

I have to complete the collection. Maybe if I watch it from a distance (we had to sit really close because it was super crowded) I might like it. I will probably go again in a few weeks with my friends so I can sit and talk through it.

Side note: Did you all notice the book reference? You didn’t? Well that is ok I will post a picture here for you:

Anyway … tell me what you thought of it.
