New Moon

Twilight.

A wonderful book.

Terrible movie.

I can't explain how much I hated the movie in words, so I drew this quick sketch to remind you all my initial reaction to it.

That is me, attempting to close the curtains on the movie so people will be spared the pain of watching it for themselves. I was so embarrassed by the acting I wanted to pull my hood on and wear a fake mustache so people wouldn't recognize me.

The acting was terrible, the directing was terrible, the script was terrible. If you remember my post on it I was trying to be nice, but after reading back over it I was too nice. Really it felt like a SyFy (yes that is how the network spells it now) made for tv movie.

Anyway, on to New Moon. I went in expecting to walk out with my hood over my head again ashamed I spent money to see it, but was midly surprised. It stuck very closely to the book, there were a couple things different, but only to cut the large book down to 2 hours of movie time. Jacob was better after he turned into a werewolf, really who liked the long hair?! Gross! Bella wasn't too bad, she smiled and acted more like a human instead of a robot.

But sadly to say I believe this movie was rated higher on my liking list was because this

was missing for about 2/3rds of it. I am sorry to say but he is far from the Edward I imagined. The first 20 minutes were awkward because you had scenes like this:

Awkward New Moon Moment

The first few seconds when she says "Kiss me" made me cringe. And the frolicking in the forest was weird, but as I have come to conclude it was because of a certain actor being there.

The werewolves were pretty cool looking, even if super cgi. At one point Sam remined me of Gmork from The Neverending Story with his glowing eyes.

Anyway if you aren't willing for fork (no pun intended haha) out the big bucks to see it in the expensive theater, you should go to the cheap one.

I rate it a C.

Tell me what you think.

Happy Halloween!!

I was going through my old Halloween pictures and came upon something interesting.

Do you all remember how short my hair was this time last year? I found a picture from Veronica's Halloween party I had taken with my cell phone. Last night I took a picture of me now just so you can compare.

The left picture is terrible because it was taken on my 1mega pixel cell phone camera at night. I tried to lighten it a little so you can see it better.

Can you believe it? I knew my hair grew fast, but wow.

Anyway, I have Halloween off so I get to relax today. Finally!

As the Dollar Turns cont.

Lots of things have happened since my last post. I am now assistant manager. I feel terrible for taking my fellow workers place, but when offered the position what else can I say?

>No I want to stay a cashier and refuse to gain valuable experience on my resume.

Haha, no. I took it happily thinking maybe there was a chance I would be trained and slip in easy beans.

That isn't how it went, so here is the breakdown.

I was called Thursday last week at 12pm and asked if I wanted to take a test. I found out then that the previous assistant manager messed up on the paper work and was quickly demoted. I said yes, but was very worried about the previous assistant manager. I like her and didn't want her to be upset with me.

I go into work Friday and am asked if I can come in, on my day off, and take the test for assistant manager. I agree and plan 2pm.

Saturday rolls around and I show up to work ready for some test taking. Apparently the DM was running behind and wasn't going to be there, but I was given my keys and told I was closing that night. My flaky boss ran out the door without a second glance back.

I didn't know how to close. I just remember watching the others do it. So here I am, not an assistant manager, holding keys, working with a cashier who really doesn't know how to close, attempting to do my best. We hardy had customers thankfully.

While doing the paperwork the numbers weren't matching, I was worried about what would happen, called the DM, and she told me not to worry about it since she was coming in Sunday to work the register for me while I take the test. So I shoved everything in the safe and went on my merry way.

Forgetting to clock out. On a Saturday. They send the data to payroll on Saturdays so it looked like I worked 15 hours.

I called the DM, she told me we would worry about it Sunday.

Sunday comes around and I have to open and close that day. I got there when I was supposed to, started my morning routine, which I was basically making it up since I had only seen it once. Around opening I went to the back and started on my test.

I scored a 90% on the first one and 92% on the second one.

Apparently my numbers were right on the deposit, I was just worried over nothing. My cashier came in and we cleaned the store top to bottom, 6 hours remaining. So we went through the food. We found more out of date stuff, and told the DM about it, she said we CANNOT sell old food and to throw it in the back for my boss to get rid of. The she left a nasty note and left.

Closing went better that night. I got everything in order, and we were out of there in 15 minutes.

Since then I have closed, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I feel like I will be getting this closing routine down. I only open twice a month so I don't know if I will ever get that down.

It isn't bad being assistant, I don't have to work with my boss as often, which is very very nice. And I am doing just what I did when I was working cashier, this time it is what I am supposed to be doing.

As the Dollar Turns

Tune in tonight for some more drama in the Family.

We all know how the Swine Flu has affected a lot of people, and how terrible the symptoms are. Apparently my boss caught it (the doctor told her 30 minutes from the time she left the store, drove there, and went into his office) that she had it and had to stay out of work for 3 days. This happened Tuesday.

Thursday while I was working I disovered the candy expiration date guide and decided to look through our candy. We had some back in 2007 that was rock hard. Gross.

We also had a little friend in the store. He looks a little like this:

I've affectionately called him Malcolm. He got into that candy I took off she shelf and had himself a snack.

When my boss got back she freaked cause there was over $1000 in old candy, and she undid what the district manager told me to do and put it back on the shelf. Mouse bite marks and everything. She said it was still good.

Oh well.

If she really wants to sell bad food to customers go for it. It isn't my problem. And if asked what I did to prevent things like this I will tell them my actions were thwarted.

Malcolm is still running the store, he has evaded all the traps we have set for him and only comes out at night when no one is there to stop his snacking.

A lot has happened this last weekend. I thought my boss was fired (due to a lot of things against her, some illegal some that just made the regional manager just angry) but she overheard something from the other store and bawled on the phone to the district manager and now she isn't.

A fellow employee wanted to know: If you knew something that would get your boss fired on the spot and didn't say anything till now, a few months later, would you get in trouble for knowing and not sharing?

On a completely random side note: I burned my finger on the curling iron today and it hurts.

Turning Things Around

Ok, so I stopped by the store Tuesday afternoon, late afternoon, to see how things with with the big boss.

He hadn't shown up yet. So I was on the lookout for him while I was there checking on my schedule. I didn't want him to see me not on the clock standing in the cashier's area. Haha red mark on my status right? I managed to make it out on time though, so no worries.

I did get my hair colored, but it is salon styled right now, so no pictures till I can get my hands on it. ^_^

My boss let me come in late today for it, she said I am her best employee because I didn't get written up when big boss came in. Apparently he came in right before close and was furious that my boss had gone home early. So since he was in a bad mood to start he didn't like anything about the store. We have to work our tails off now getting things set to code. We had things too high, end-caps not set properly, displays wrong, things in the windows we shouldn't have, and let's not even go to the backroom.

I came in Wednesday to a crying boss, I just stood there thinking, and ... you want me to do what about it? I have been working here 2 months, I have very little to do with the state of the store. I feel a little bad, but come on. She went home early the day the big boss was supposed to come in. I can only give out so much sympathy to someone who knew what was going to happen.

I worked Wednesday, and today, and that is it for this week. I don't work again till Monday, maybe. I will have to stop by Saturday and get my new schedule so I can see how things are going. My boss can't take a day off, or leave early till everything it set in its place and like big boss wants them to be. She hasn't been pleasant.

Oh well ... it couldn't be called Family Dollar without the drama right?

Quick hide the treats! Looks like the parents are back!

I find it frustrating when you don't know your work schedule for the week. I have found myself like that for a while now. I worked on Friday and to my knowledge I worked again Monday at 8am, then Tuesday at 6:30am, the rest of the week wasn't written yet. So I wrote that down and moved on with life.

This morning when I got to work I started unloading the truck, thinking of all the possible ways we could get the 1300 piece truck unloaded before big boss came to see it. While unloading boxes on the chemical wall I was chatting with a coworker about it and he said I don't have to worry. I just looked at him strangely and said "Yeah, I come in at 6 tomorrow." He looked at me strangely and asked if she had changed the schedule.

Now I was really confused. So I marched myself to the front and looked at it. She had changed it so I don't come in Tuesday at all. I will not be around for big boss to come in. I won't even be unloading the boxes, organizing, zoning, nothing.

That is a load off on me, but now I have to work over my hair appointment, which she said I can have off. So I will call, or go in tomorrow and discuss it with her. Very annoying. I wish she just left it the way it was. I don't want to go in when big boss is in there, and I really don't want to go in at 6:30 tomorrow so I will go in in the afternoon and ask her if I can switch with another worker for Friday or Saturday. Annoying.

I was waiting for a call tonight, not sure if I was going in tomorrow, I was planning on switching a day already since my other coworker doesn't want that many hours, but the call never came. So I assume the plan is still as is.

Very annoying. I can't wait until big boss is gone and we can get back to doing things wrong again.

Too Good to Pass Up

Family Dollar started their super awesome deal today. They are selling all summer clothes for $1 and $2 a set/piece. They have some short sleeve onesies for that price too.

I had to go in at 7:00am to set it up in our store. But come on, how can you pass a deal up like that? They are some cute things too. It will last till everything is sold. Sadly there are only sport jerseys for the boys, except babies onesies.

Anyway, on to boring work information. I also had to go in early today so I can learn how to open the store and order items the store needs extra of. Strange that the newest cashier is in charge isn't it? Why didn't she bring in her assistants, who don't know how to do those things?

The Literary Word

The last three days have been consumed in reading. Or listening. When Mom went to Utah to visit an old friend she sent a book home for us to read. I was a little leery because it isn't something I would have picked up at the bookstore. I even remember walking by it saying "I would never buy this, how horrible." But there I was glued to my computer chair while I hung on every word. I found myself stacking dishes next to me, unable to take a second to run them upstairs. I would wake early in the morning and listen to it as I got ready for work. Think about at work all day, and rush home to listen to more.

I was hooked.

What are these books you ask? The Hunger Games.

And the second book Catching Fire.

I listened to both in three days! Suzanne Collins has a wonderful writing style, she keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time wondering what will happen next. Wondering who will survive.

Here is a synopsis of the first book:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games.

You don't get one for the second, it will give away what happened at the end of the first. Just read and find out. It is better that way I promise. I plan on buying them when I have the money to do so they are really good! And now I have to wait for the third to come out ... in one year!

On another note: They ended up not firing that girl, our district manager said if she was going to be fired it would have been the 31st, not this far into the next month. But my manager is under the microscope now. Our regional manager is going to be here on the 29th, the day after truck, to see how our store looks. We are going to have to haul butt to get it all done. We usually aren't done till Thursday, 3 days after truck. I am staying a cashier, but I am being trained as a manager/assistant manager. Maybe I will get a raise.

Saturday, September 12, 2009

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”

So there are some scary things happening at work. $100 is missing from the deposit last month and there is talk of firing someone because of it.

Remember when I wrote that my boss was gone for a week or so? Well, while she was gone everyone was written up for doing something wrong. Our district manager snuck in the store and managed to get out the front door with 4 shopping carts and a U-boat before someone noticed her. She took them out one by one and slowly too.

Another was written up for sitting on the counter ... for 5 hours.

Another was written up for having $100 missing from her till.

I was the only one not written up. I did get a verbal, but that was both my and my assistant managers fault. We didn't check the receipt of a former employee for the price she bought her item for. I gave her back $15 too much, she returned the extra money and I was given a verbal lashing over it, but no write up.

So ...

Since we may be losing one of our workers, over the missing $100, I might be getting a promotion to assistant manager. I am not sure I really want to. I like not being in charge of the scary stuff in the store. I like just hanging back and chilling as a cashier. I will be working 40 hours a week, and have a chance to get a raise.

I look at it as growth and experience, even if I am dragging my feet into it. There is a possible chance I may even be offered a store to manage. After I gain experience that is.

Just wanted to share the might-happen news. Nothing has happened yet, but my manager said she would pick me over a promotion than my fellow cashier (who might I add has been working there longer).

We will see, I just hope they don't fire her before the whole Christmas season ... I don't know how we will do it with only 4 people running the store. No breaks for me I guess. Busy Ashley.

So my car is a little crooked ... whats wrong with that?

It all started at Heathers house ... or on the way there. Apparently there was a lonely screw in the road that felt it needed a friend in the shape of my rear passenger tire. They became bonded quite quickly and my tire felt the need to let go of its previous friend, air.

We had dinner at Heathers house Sunday and when Ty and I got back to my car the tire was flat. So we sat down in the crusty sidewalk grass and changed it out for the donut.

No worries right?

The next morning, as I prepared to take it to Les Schwab my donut was flat. So Ty called his girlfriend to come pick me and the tire up and we drove to Les Schwab to have them fix it without the car. They did so in record time, 15 minutes, and we were out the door to replace it.

In all the whole operation took 45 minutes, I am a pro at changing tires because of my friends and their flats in Idaho Falls, but I wasn't sure if I got the bolts on there tight enough, and I wasn't going to be very happy if the tire flew off while I was on the interstate so I stopped by Les Schwab during my lunch break to make sure it was right.

I waited about 10 minutes and the guy pulled me out into the garage area to show me my front tires were at the end of their life due to a bad front end alignment. He said I need it fixed as soon as possible, my tires are in bad shape.

I guess the screw was there to show me I needed to get that done before any major trips, but why oh why does it have to cost so much?

On another note, my boss is gone this week for family and work has never been better. Yeah we have to unload truck by ourselves, but we are getting it and finding it less stressful.

Is that Mutiny I Hear?

I was doing so well for a while there writing, commenting, being a decent blogger, then it sorta drifted back to the way it was before (expect this time I am still commenting way to go Ashley!)

So here is a short recap of what happened since the last time I wrote:

I worked.

End of story.

Haha, there were a couple breaks where I went to Lagoon, but for the most part I did work. For being a part time cashier I work over 30 hours a week (more than one of the assistants). Bleh. I thought this store would be a better work environment, but it is just as bad of the old store. Although our district manager hasn’t had to come break up fights at ours … yet.

I get along with everyone, but the manager. She is just a mean resentful person and she finds pleasure in setting people up for failure. We have a running joke that if something isn’t done it is *Red’s fault. Only because our manager blames her for everything. Red finds it funny and jokes along with us.

I go through the weekly schedule and write down who I work with only because I don’t want to close with the big M, I love closing with *Shorty. She is a lot of fun and we get what we have to do done in a steady pace instead of rushing like I do when I am working with M.

I don’t work with *Boy because he is a cashier as well and we really shouldn’t be working together, but he is the bosses pet and therefore a snot. Imagine the teacher’s pet and you have him.

M is leaving at the end of this week with family problems so it will be Boy running the store.

Yes. The cashier is running the store, even though she has 2 assistant managers. Dumb we all know.

Anyway, getting away from crappy work.

Lagoon Trip 1:

I had to pleasure of going to Lagoon with most of the family. It was a lot of fun and I love going with a BIG group of kids. Holly was so happy to be back with Malissa’s kids again, she loves taking Tanner and Adam on rides. She said she missed that part of it when drama was going on. Next year we will plan to take drama with us on another day. No worries.

Lagoon Trip 2:

When we went to Lagoon the first trip Holly, Spencer, and I got our tickets validated for bounceback. Holly and I used the pass Friday. I got off work around 4 on Thursday and drove down to Utah to Days Inn in Clearfield. We stayed the night, after visiting Barns and Noble (I love books! I can’t help it). My eye had been acting up with allergies the day before and on Thursday it was swollen and red and gross. I was hoping it wouldn’t bother me, but boy howdy it had a different plan. We ended up driving to Walmart Neighborhood Mart … strange creepy green Walmart, in Layton at 11 to get eye drops and allergy pills.

We got up the next day, my eye almost swollen shut, but that wasn’t going to stop us from having a fun day in Lagoon! We got there around 10:30 and got into the park, even though the rides weren’t operating yet. We found a nice bench and waited. Dracula’s castle was the first ride, as usual.

It was a hot day, close to 100 degrees, and it was the last Friday the part was open for the season. So everyone and their brother were there, but that didn’t stop us. I loved the shows, they were so fun and upbeat and they played an All American Rejects song I love!

We partied till 11:00 and left when the park closed back to our hotel. My eye was raw from being gross and wet all day and me rubbing it, like your nose feels when you have a cold and rub it most of the day. So I got a wet towel and laid it on my eye while I read for a bit. Around midnight we turned out the lights. Neither of us could sleep with the noisy air conditioner, so I opened my eyes to turn it to a different setting and freaked out!

I thought I went blind in my left eye! (it was my right eye that was infected). I couldn’t see anything out of it, and I was freaking out, quietly of course. I put my hand in front of it and realized I could still see my fingers, it was just really dark. It took me a minute to remember my eyes adjust to the dark and light and since I had a towel over my infected eye it was already dilated and could therefore see really well in the dark where as the other was still adjusting.

It felt really weird, but was way awesome to experience. You should try it sometime.

We got up and got us some Rumbi Grill before leaving town for home.

Why is it that you get home quickly, but getting to where you are going takes forever? I tried to slow my car down, I didn’t want to be back. I had to work at 4.

My eye is doing a lot better today, I still can’t put makeup on it yet, but it isn’t swollen. It should be back to normal by next week, stinkin’ allergies!

A Break Away from the Ordinary

Warning: This post is picture heavy (seems to be the theme). I was allowed to use the camera!

I am scheduled to work 2 days a week now, and each of the days I only work 4 hours. So I took the free time I have and took a little educational vacation.

First I stopped by:

It was pretty cool. When you pay for your ticket you are given a ticket explaining one persons life on the Titanic. It was a real person and at the end of the exhibit you find out of you survived.

I was Annie Funk. I had a feeling I wasn't going to make due to the fact I was unmarried and traveling alone 2nd class. Annie helped set up a school for girls in India in 1907 and worked there as a missionary till 1912 when she received a telegram from her family saying she should go home to Pennsylvania to see her dying mother. She originally got two tickets, one for a boat to England, and a second on a ship to America, but due to the coal strike the second boat didn't have enough fuel to make it so she was offered an upgrade to the Titanic for 39 pounds more. She accepted and boarded. She celebrated her 38th birthday on April 10th on the boat.

The night the ship hit the iceberg she was woken by a ship stewardess and given a lifebelt and told to go to the top deck and board a lifeboat. She did as she was told and was placed in the last spot on the lifeboat.

A woman and her two children ran to the lifeboat and cried to her "My children My children!" and Annie gave up her seat to that woman so she and her children would make it out.

Sadly she didn't make it to another lifeboat, but she did go down as a Heronie. She even had her own poster dedicated to her as a hero on the Titanic.

I was the only one out of my group to die. Holly ended up getting the Unsinkable Molly Brown ... we didn't figure it out till we were sitting above the iceburg (real ice and yes it was very cold I could only keep my hand on it for about 15 seconds) when we put two and two together. Molly's real name was Margaret and she wasn't called Molly till the movie came out. Strange.

We left the museum and headed over to the zoo where I took a lot of pictures so here goes!

This guy teased us. He was walking by the giant tortoise (who was hidden in his hut) and wouldn't put his feathers up no matter what sweet talk we sent his way.

Can you hear him saying "Cheese!" He was such a poser.

This little guy was just sitting there above the birds staring at us as if he was thinking "If I don't move they won't see me." Haha didn't work!

See mom they do have Giraffe there! This hut was really cool and I spent a lot of time going through the things there. I was touching the lion fur patch when a GIANT black spider climbed on the table and ran under the fur.

I prompty left.

This little girl was just born! How cute, she looked so soft.

He just woke up, can you tell? He walked all the way to the water hole and drank for a good 10 minutes before returning to his shady spot and crashing. The female lion was hanging out near the top of the cage, she didn't move for us.

The perfect Flamingo shot, he knew it too.

Do you see the egg? It is near the glowing mother ^_^. A guest at the zoo was standing there watching it, she was so excited she pointed it out to us too. I climbed on the fense (shh) and took a picture to avoid the metal getting in the way.

And here is a wanna be Flamingo ... he isn't as pretty ... or as good at the one leg stand, but he does have the colors down. I am not sure what he was called, he was in the random bird cage.

This sign reminds me of Oregon so I had to take a picture. Don't you all just want to be there all the time?

These pelican's can read I guess, they were sitting right where the sign said they would. They woke up when we were running back through, but really ... they just aren't that pretty so eh.

When we walked up to the Llama cage in the children's area this teenager Llama walked up to us and fell over. Such drama.

Haha the drama llama!

I was standing quite a distance from this little guy. The camera is wicked awesome and made it look like I was right next to him. They stayed in the back corner and didn't want to swim for us, so you get this, he is looking at me like "Not another one."

I can't resist a black swan. Their story is fun and Paul Link has brought a whole new thought when I hear their name.

"The term Black Swan comes from the 17th century European assumption that 'All swans are white'. In that context, a black swan was a symbol for something that was impossible or could not exist. In the 18th Century, the discovery of black swans in Western Australia metamorphosed the term to connote that a perceived impossibility may actually come to pass." -The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb in 2007.

He came walking up first and stared at us. His friend walked right up behind him and the first one stretched his neck up very long, reminded me of a dinosaur.

Look how big his feet are. Isn't he so cute you just want to squishy his face? He only stood up to turn around and plop back down. Lazy.

We stopped by Mr. Showy to see if he would spread his feathers for us, obviously he didn't but he did walk up to us like he was on the runway. They learn it in peacock 101.

That is it for my picture post. Hope you enjoyed!

The World's Mysteries

I find unexplained things fascinating and would like to share one of my treasures I found with you guys. I follow a website called Web Urbanist and one of their posts a while back was titled 12 of the World's Most Mysterious Monuments. Some of these things I knew about but others were new to me so I hope you enjoy reading.

They have older posts that are cool to look at as well. One was about old abandoned amusement parks and they took pictures of them, it was hauntingly awesome!

Anyway here is the link - 12 of the World's Most Mysterious Monuments

Enjoy!

Ok so I stumbled upon this little 3 episode musical. The songs were all over youtube and someone on my art page said they really liked it.

So I checked it out.

The songs are quite catchy and the storyline is cute. I don't want to spoil too much for you if you want to watch it so I will stop my comments there.

If you want to check it out as well you can watch it free on their website.

Tidbits of Information

Ok, so work isn't too bad. I had one really bad day learning how to use the register from 'Stinkbug*'. She didn't have a lot of patience with me and I had no idea what I was doing. At the end of the day she had me running after her to close complaining I wasn't paying attention to her. She was upset that I didn't have time to finish mopping the last two isles.

I haven't worked with her since. Not sure if it was her request of that is just how things landed but eh no hard feelings on my end.

I like closing with 'Spaz**'. She is very energetic and happy to be working with me. We got the whole store cleaned and ready to close by 8:45 so we had 15 minutes to hang out. I was even allowed to stand in the box O.o

Strange things about FD: You cannot stand at the register. If a customer is standing at the counter you are allowed to be there but only if you are actively checking them out. Otherwise you are kicked out of the box and told to wander the store and clean things. So if you ever go and think "Why is no one ever here this is annoying." that is why. We aren't allowed to be there. Dumb I know. Even if the clothes and shoes are organized I still have to wander around looking busy.

When I went into my interview I was told to wear tan pants and a nice shirt, nothing low cut. So I said ok and went on my merry way. The last week and a half I have been wearing my fun summery shirts. Everyone else is wearing black. I write it off as they just liked to wear black and move on. Day before yesterday 'Boss***' comes up to me and says "You should try and start wearing black ... it is the dress code." I was like ... really? I wasn't told this, but oh well. So I bought a couple new black shirts. I only owned one ... how strange is that? I thought I had more.

So I get to work today and tomorrow, 5 hours tomorrow being the longest I will have worked since I started. I'm sure next week will be the same, short afternoon hours. It is kinda nice to be working part time really. I can goof in the morning, work in the afternoon, and come home with time to spare.

We close an hour later today for the 4th sales, so I will be there till 9:00.

*Stinkbug will be the nickname I use for the mean woman I work with. She hasn't liked me since day one ... I didn't even talk to her, I have no idea what her problem is.

**Spaz will be the nickname of the girl I like closing with.

***Boss is the name of my store boss. Big Boss is the name of her boss.

Stranger will be the name of the girl I am never scheduled with. I really don't know her beside the fact she talks to the products in the store and is kinda airy. We shelved for a while together but that is all the interaction I had with her since I started.

Bombarded much?

Wow look at that, no posts for a long time, no comments for a long time and then

BAM!

I write three blogs in one day and comment on everything I missed. I haven't been checking my computer websites as often. I find myself being really busy doing stuff or reading away from my computer during the day. You can only look at so much before you are bored of the internet ... or is that just me?

Found this fun tag on a friends blog and thought I would share it with all of you.

You know you love me XOXO

I have a guilty pleasure. I started and finished season 1 and season 2 of Gossip Girl in one week. I am not sure where the idea came from, but I decided one day I wanted to watch it. I watched the pilot and was instantly hooked. It was a glorified soap opera with good looking actors.

Here is a short synopsis:
“Want to know a secret? A really juicy secret? Look no further than the latest message from Manhattan's notorious blogger Gossip Girl. She keeps tabs on the city's most elite teens as they make the rounds from the preppiest school events to the most lavish, decadent parties. And between Serena and Blair's explosive friendship, Dan and Serena's budding romance, Nate and Blair's fairytale relationship (or is it?), Chuck's escapades and Jenny's introduction to the glamorous life, there's a lot to track!”

These are the main characters in the series:

Characters left to right: Rufus Humphrey, Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf, Nate Archibald, Jenny Humphrey, Lily van der Woodsen, Serena van der Woodsen, Dan Humphrey, and Vanessa Abrams.

These are the characters followed from the first episode to the last:

Characters left to right: Nate Archibald, Serena van der Woodsen, Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf, Dan Humphrey and Jenny Humphrey.

Rufus is Dan and Jenny's father. Lily is Serena's mom. Relationships amongst the characters are twisted and backwards from some becoming siblings to sharing a sibling and not knowing it, but I won't spoil the surprises for you.

One lesson I have learned from this series is that nothing is secret. If you tell someone something in secret it will come out, at several parts characters use specific names such as "So-and-so told me you ___!" ... no secrets.

My favorite quote:
"Three words. Eight letters. Say them and I'm yours."

Favorite song: Sum 41 - With me

Season 3 starts in September and I can guarantee I will be watching it.

My Family. My Family Dollar.

Some of you might now, some might not but I got a new job. Sadly it wasn’t where I wanted it to be. I am working at Family Dollar as a part time something right now. Not sure exactly what I am supposed to do because some things are really crazy there. I got a call back about a week ago and was asked to go to an interview, so I dressed in my nice Sunday clothes and drove out there and spoke with the boss. The interview went well I filled out paperwork and an online application and was sent out the door with a promise to get a callback in a couple days. They had to finish up some more interviews.

I got home and about two hours later was called back by another person from the store claiming they wanted to interview me. I asked if this was the second interview and she said she was the store manager and wanted to interview me some more since she would be working with me daily. So I agreed and went back in the next day.

Here is where it gets strange.

I was given specific instructions to walk into the store and go in the back, do NOT talk to the employees. I didn’t think anything of it and just did as told. I spoke with the manager and while I was going over the new employee instructions she left to speak with her boss (the first interview woman). I overheard something about the till being off an outrageous amount and the person lying about the reasons behind it. The manager came out and finished the interview with me and told me she wanted to walk me to the front door so I didn’t get stopped by anyone.

Was there a hit on me I didn’t know about? We walked to the front and she told me she just wanted to make sure I wasn’t stopped and talked to. She said there were some crazy things going on and she didn’t want me in the middle of it because I was taking over the employee who was off’s job.

We made it safely outside and I walked to my car safe and sound. My first day was the 22nd. We unloaded the truck and started shelving items. I LOVE IT! I didn’t think I would like shelving as much as I did but I ended up working nonstop to the point my boss came out and ordered me on a break where I sat fidgeting the whole time wanting to get back to unloading laundry soap. Tuesday I unloaded the cosmetics and hair products. I had Wednesday off and Thursday I organized the store to make it look nice and make sure everything was lined up and ready to be counted for inventory. I assume today or tomorrow I will be put on register so I can learn how to do that. I don’t think it will be too hard, but I have never done register before so we will see. I am just worried I will look like a dork when I have to take an item off the list. But I guess everyone has to start somewhere right? I am learning how to do things I normally don’t do. I only work 4 hours a day because the whole strange firing situation. When the girl has a job they are going to kick her out and move me in. so I don’t know how long things will work the way they are now. She said maybe next week I will work the same hours and we will move from there.
